Setup: Variable Purchases
Variable Purchases are very similar to Purchases, except that they allow you to create multiple versions of the item for sale. A good example to consider is a membership site – for a single thing like a ticket to an event, you can offer a member and a non-member price.
In the example above, the select list offers multiple prices that, when selected, allows the user to add the selected price to the cart.
In the example below, this is what a Variable Purchase looks like. Once each of the grey areas are expanded, the reveal the exact same options offered for a single purchase, making Variable Purchases a powerful option to offer choices to your users.
Variable Displays
You can choose to show Variable Purchases as a select list, an expandable widget or a list of buttons.
Inventory Overrides
You can choose to manage inventory inside each variation but you can also track and prevent overselling of an item absolutely. This means that if you have 10 tickets available, you can offer 10 tickets at a member price and 10 tickets at a non-member price and once 10 tickets are sold (regardless of which price was paid or how many are left of a particular price), Presspoint will disable all price variations in favor of the overall Inventory Count.
Inventory Count
The total amount of an item available independent of the inventory for each variation.
Variation
Each grey box is a self-contained, expandable purchase that can be named and adjusted independent of the others. Variations can be resorted using drag/drop and turned on or off using the “eye” icons. Further, Variations can be deleted by clicking on the “x” icon.
Variations can be added using the “New Variable” button, which will create a new collection of purchase options. When you have created a new Variable Purchase you can optionally bulk-add Variations from a saved template. Whenever you have created a collection of Variations that you know you will want to re-use, you can save the present collection as a template, which can then be used on other Variable Purchases.
